Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, will inaugurate the 10th edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) tomorrow (Wednesday, 2 October 2024) under the theme ‘Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress’.

Organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), WGES will take place on 2 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The summit brings together leaders, experts, policymakers and specialists from around the world to share insights, exchange ideas and champion sustainable, innovative solutions aimed at accelerating the transition to a green, low-carbon economy. This inclusive model emphasises the efficient use of resources and promotes a more equitable future for all.

“Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the World Green Economy Summit serves as a pioneering platform that fosters international co-operation and promotes dialogue and innovation on critical sustainability and climate action issues through its diverse activities and sessions. This supports our shared objectives to achieve net-zero emissions and build a green, sustainable economy. During the 10th edition of the summit, we aim to facilitate dialogue and collaboration between governments, the private sector and civil society organisations in advancing sustainability and the green economy, in addition to strengthening the UAE's leadership in global climate action,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD & CEO of DEWA and Chairman of WGEO.

This year’s WGES will address a range of critical themes, including Decarbonisation and Net-Zero Goals, Clean Energy Advancements, Climate Finance, the Circular Economy, Policy and Regulatory Frameworks, Using Technology to Tackle Climate Change, Youth in Climate Action, and Food and Water.
