HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a high-level delegation led by Ziad Jammal General Manager - Google Cloud UAE, Levant & North Africa. The meeting was attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub.
During the visit DEWA announced a strategic collaboration with Google Cloud to integrate generative AI into its core operations. Through the implementation of Google Cloud’s NotebookLM technology, DEWA launched a series of AI-generated podcasts, achieving rapid turnaround times, consistent quality, and multilingual capabilities. This initiative underlines DEWA’s position as a pioneer in adopting generative AI and its efforts to become the world’s first AI-native utility.

With NotebookLM, DEWA achieved more than 99% reduction in production costs and over 95% improvement in turnaround time compared to traditional podcasting methods. These huge enhancements allowed DEWA to meet its communication goals more efficiently, expand its multilingual reach, and reallocate resources to other strategic priorities — all without incurring additional operational burdens. The initiative is delivering an annualised cost avoidance of AED 25.5 million, underscoring the tangible impact and value of AI-enabled transformation.
