Solar PV Equipment Eligibility

Important Points

1. The submission of Solar PV Equipment enrollment applications shall be done through the DRRG Equipment Portal. For any enquiries or support related to the solar PV equipment enrollment, send email to pvequipment@dewa.gov.ae

2. The equipment that meets the minimum eligibility criteria will be added in the List of Eligible Equipment. This list is periodically updated.

3. The mandatory compliance certificates shall be issued from 3rd party ILAC-accredited labs according to the standard ISO/IEC 17025.

Note the old PDF list of Eligible Equipment is obsolete and shall not be consider for solar installations.

In line with Dubai’s vision to become a global hub for green economy, DEWA has launched the Distributed Renewable Resources Generation programme to encourage customers to adopt solar energy as a mean of producing their own electricity. Surplus production will be fed into DEWA’s power network while the owner will be credited for off-setting future use.

DEWA has committed to maintain high technical standards for these installations. Therefore, the solar PV equipment to be installed will undergo a rigorous process of verification to ensure compliance with the eligibility criteria set by DEWA based on international standards on quality and safety, as described in the following document:

Minimum Eligibility Criteria (Please refer to the standards document in the "PV Equipment Eligibility Overview" section for details):

PV Modules: The minimum eligibility of the PV module depends on the compliance to the following standards:

• IEC 61215-1-x/2
• IEC 61730-1/2
• IEC 61701

PV Inverters: The minimum eligibility of the PV Inverter depends on the compliance to the following standards:

• IEC 62109-1/2 or UL 1741
• IEC 61000-3-2 or IEC 61000-3-12
• As per only one of the following scenarios:
     a) IEC 61000-6-1 and IEC 61000-6-3 (For Usage Category: Residential, Commercial and Light Industrial Environment)
         Or
     b) IEC 61000-6-2 and IEC 61000-6-4 (For Usage Category: Industrial Environment)
         Or
      c) IEC 61000-6-2 and IEC 61000-6-3 (For Usage Category: All- Residential, Commercial and Industrial Environment)
• DEWA DRRG Standards (DEWA Standards for Distributed Renewable Resources Generators Connected to the Distributed Network – Version 3.0, December 2023, Chap. 2 – Technical requirements, Appendix D.3 and/or D.4 – Compliance test for Inverters for Low/Medium Voltage Connected RRGPs). Kindly note that the name of the standard stated in the submitted compliance certificate shall refer clearly and precisely to this Document and the relevant Appendix.


• For all the Renewable Resources Generating plant (RRGP) connected to the LV grid, the detriment of the RRGP to the voltage quality measured at the point of connection shall be in accordance with IEC 61000-2-2 and IEC/TR 61000-3-14
