Introduction to Scholarship Programme:

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority is working according to an integrated strategy to encourage and stimulate Emiratisation by launching a scholarship programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR). This programme supports high school graduates seeking to pursue their studies abroad at leading universities, to obtain bachelor’s degrees in specific majors in accordance with the directives of DEWA. Students will obtain competitive benefits provided by the MoHESR and a career opportunity with DEWA.

DEWA seeks to fulfill its needs by hiring talented Emirati graduates who adhere to the highest standards from the below academic majors:

- Electrical & electronics engineering

- Mechanical engineering

- Artificial intelligence

- Civil engineering

Criteria & Documentation

Criteria of scholarship programme

The applicant must meet all the below-mentioned criteria before proceeding with the application process through the website:

  • The applicant must be a UAE national, holding both a UAE passport and family book.
  • The applicant must be a high school pupil in the 2024-2025 academic year or should have graduated from high school in the past two years.
  • The applicant must have obtained a percentage of 90% or above in science subjects in high school.
  • The applicant must apply to a foreign university on the MoHESR’s approved list, according to the following classification:
  • - The university must be among the top 100 universities in the United States of America and Australia.
  • The applicant must apply to study abroad for a bachelor's degree on DEWA’s approved majors.
  • The applicant must submit a copy of all official supporting documents through the website.
  • The applicant must obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • The applicant must obtain a University Acceptance Letter.
  • The applicant must meet the requirements of the target universities, as well as the score requirements of English proficiency tests such as IELTS/TOEFL.
  • The applicant must pass the DEWA personal interview that assesses communication skills, commitment, academic and career goals, problem-solving and adaptability under pressure).
  • The applicant must pass the internal aptitude assessment of DEWA.
  • The applicant must be "medically fit", according to a medical fitness certificate.
  • Male applicants must accomplish UAE national service before applying for the scholarship programme or obtain an exemption/postponement letter from the National and Reserve Service Authority (not mandatory).
  • The applicant must not have received a full scholarship for the same academic degree and/or must not have had a previously terminated scholarship.

Note: Please note that applications will be evaluated to assess whether they meet the specified criteria and according to the availability of places. Therefore, until a final decision is received on an application to DEWA’s scholarship programme, applicants are advised to consider alternative options in case their application is not approved.

Required Documents

1. Copy of a valid passport.

2. Copy of the complete family book.

3. Copy of the Emirates ID card.

4. Copy of the birth certificate.

5. Copy of personal photo.

6. Copy of the previous academic grades (10, 11, 12).

7. An academic acceptance letter (unconditional) for the specified major and university, stating the start and end dates of study.

8. IELTS/TOEFL English tests result according to the standards of the target university, and the major to be pursued.

9. Medical Fitness Certificate.

10. Certificate of Good Conduct.

11. Certificate of completion/postponement of the National Service (for male applicants).
