During his visit to the Supreme Council of Energy As part of preparations to receive delegations that will participate in World Energy Forum (WEF) 2012, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy for Dubai (SCE) and Vice Chairman of the WEF 2012 Higher Organizing Committee, met with HE Giorgio Starace, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, attended by Dr. Youssef Al Akraf, EVP of Business Support, Khawla Al Mehairi, Vice Chairman of the WEF 2012 Media Committee and Ahmed Abdullah, Deputy Senior Manager of External Communications at DEWA. The attendees went over the arrangements in place to host a high-level Italian delegation and participating corporations. Al Tayer welcomed Starace and briefed him about the World Energy Forum 2012, which will bring together several heads of state, premiers, ministers, business leaders of leading companies, policymakers and experts in the field of energy and sustainability from all over the world to discuss the need for safe sustainable energy which is a crucial ingredient in establishing the foundations for social and economic sustainable development. “At the World Energy Forum 2012, discussions will revolve around ways to achieve social equity, face global poverty challenges, and solve the issue of access to electricity for 1.5 billion people around the globe and the impact of energy on education, health and infrastructure. Another key topic will be the exchange of ideas and best practices to chart a global sustainability roadmap to help all mankind,” said Al Tayer. Starace stated his nation’s interest in enhancing collaboration between both nations, especially through the participation of a high-level delegation, as both nations play a leading role in achieving sustainability at world level. He also urged Italian corporations to attend the World Energy Forum. At the end of the meeting, Starace thanked Al Tayer for his hospitality, the briefing on the Supreme Council of Energy and its operations and projects.
