Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the first episode of ‘Noor and Hayat Adventures’ animated series, which are based on DEWA’s cartoon characters that represent electricity and water. The move supports DEWA’s ongoing efforts to consolidate environmental awareness among members of society, especially the younger generation. The animations are available on DEWA’s YouTube channel (DEWAOfficial). The adventures are also published in ‘Noor and Hayat Adventures’ magazine on DEWA’s website (www.dewa.gov.ae) under Sustainabilit.
To mark the occasion, DEWA organised a number of activities at KidZania Dubai Mall. Noor and Hayat as well as 1,500 children of different age groups took part in the two-day activities which included interactive workshops and competitions, with gifts distributed to participants in a joyful and fun atmosphere.
“DEWA adopts an integrated strategy to involve all members of society in sustainability efforts and encourage individuals to rationalise consumption, and adopt environmentally-friendly practices to conserve natural resources. By launching ‘Noor and Hayat Adventures,’ we aim to spread environmental awareness among the new generation using edutainment. This encourages them to use electricity and water responsibly to ensure a brighter future for generations to come,” said Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy & Government Communications at DEWA.
“We are committed to promoting environmental awareness using different methods. ‘Noor and Hayat Adventures’ will convey the conservation messages to the younger generation. We also urge the children to participate in the first-episode’s competition that DEWA is organising on its social media channels for a change to win many prizes,” said Amal Koshak, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications at DEWA.
‘Noor and Hayat Adventures’ films and stories are available in Arabic and English. The idea is based on exciting adventures by Noor, Hayat, and their friends in the ‘City of Happiness’ to promote the sensible use of electricity and water, preserve natural resources, and protect the environment.
In addition to the stories about the conservation heroes, ‘Noor and Hayat Adventures’ magazine includes educational topics and activities presented in fun and simple ways that suit the youngsters, with the aim to develop their skills and capabilities. The first issue of the magazine features different sections including a section to teach some Arabic words for non-Arabs; Fun Facts, with general information about electricity and water; The Games and Innovation section, which includes fun games such as crossword puzzles, connecting dots and much more.
