“The participation of Emirati Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi in the longest space mission in Arab history (Zayed Ambition 2) to the International Space Station, confirms the insightful vision of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in establishing an advanced and sustainable science and technology sector. This contributes to consolidating the pioneering role of the UAE, which has become one of the leading countries in space sciences and technologies by investing in Emirati men and women and empowering the youth to participate in space exploration missions. The sons and daughters of Zayed have proven their competence and distinction in the space sector, making unprecedented achievements across the Arab world. Over the past few years, the UAE launched Khalifa Sat, the first Arab satellite made by Emiratis; Emirati Astronaut Hazza Al Mansoori went to the International Space Station as the first Emirati and Arab Astronaut to go to the ISS; and the Hope Probe was launched to Mars. The UAE also participates in exploring the Moon, Venus and other planets in the solar system,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
“I wish all the success to Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi in his pioneering mission. I also congratulate the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council and Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, on this historic achievement that consolidates the UAE’s position and promotes its competitiveness in this promising sector,” added Al Tayer.
