“The declaration of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, July 18 to be known as Union Pledge Day, represents a new honourable national occasion to highlight the brightest national cohesion and commitment to the values of the Union that were initiated by the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and his brothers’ the Rulers. These values are the major foundations to the UAE’s approach towards a prosperous, happy and sustainable future. They have been the driving force behind the continuous development and prosperity of the nation, which has achieved remarkable progress thanks to the forward-looking vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the flag of the Union,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

“On this blessed day that marks the signing of the Founding Fathers the declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution while announcing the name of our country, in preparation for the nation’s establishment on December 2, 1971, we reiterate our loyalty to the wise leadership, and we renew our pledge to keep the UAE flag high by continuing hard, dedicated, and sincere work to maintain the prosperity of our homeland, inspired by the ‘Spirit of the Union,’ which motivates our determination and energises our efforts in order to preserve the nation’s achievements and gains. We pray to Almighty Allah to protect our beloved country and maintain its dignity, prosperity, security, and safety,” added Al Tayer.
