Consul General of Grenada visits Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to learn about DEWA's Green Hydrogen project

HE Ziya Azam Rahaman, Consul General of Grenada to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, visited the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is implementing. This is the largest single-site solar park in the world, using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.

He was briefed by officials from DEWA’s Research and Development Centre on the Green Hydrogen project, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce hydrogen using solar power. The project, which produces green hydrogen through the electrolysis of water can produce 20 kilograms of green hydrogen per hour. The hydrogen is stored in a tank that can store up to 12 hours of production. The Project has been designed to accommodate future applications and testing platforms for various uses of hydrogen, including energy production and mobility. This aligns with the road map for the Hydrogen Strategy, which is being implemented in phases. The project supports DEWA’s efforts to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.

HE Rahaman commended DEWA’s efforts and achievements in R&D, particularly in the renewable and clean energy sector.
