In support of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the theme ‘Family: The Foundation of Our Nation’, Al Furjan Fund signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The agreement aims to support and finance social initiatives and programmes that promote the quality of life for citizens and residents in Dubai.

The agreement was signed by Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, and HE Ahmed Al Bedwawi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Furjan Fund. The agreement aligns with the commitment of both sides to enhance community engagement and support initiatives aimed at promoting social sustainability within residential neighbourhoods, in line with the strategies of the Dubai Social Agenda D33.

“DEWA's top management is committed to implementing and supporting projects initiatives that contribute to enhancing social and economic development, strengthening social cohesion among citizens and consolidating national identity across various neighbourhoods and areas in Dubai. This aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which focus on developing a city that offers the best living experience, residential services, as well as cultural and sporting activities. This partnership marks a significant step towards increasing community engagement and supporting projects that contribute to the well-being and stability of Emirati citizens,” said Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.

“We are pleased to collaborate with Al Furjan Fund in line with our active role in promoting community engagement and realising Dubai’s vision of becoming a pioneering city in sustainable development. This partnership is just the beginning of more projects that will support society and improve the quality of life for Emiratis,” he added.

HE Ahmed Al Bedwawi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Al Furjan Fund, said: “We are keen to build effective strategic partnerships with government agencies and private sector institutions to contribute to raising the quality of life of Emiratis. The agreement with DEWA confirms the importance of these efforts and supports innovative projects and ideas that contribute to providing a supportive environment for residential communities in Dubai

This agreement embodies the vision of Al Furjan Fund in supporting and empowering citizens by financing creative projects and ideas that contribute to enhancing community cohesion, improving the quality of life in residential neighbourhoods and strengthening effective partnerships with government and private entities.

The MoU aligns with the shared vision of Al Furjan Fund and DEWA to enhance stability in Dubai’s residential districts through projects that support social cohesion. Both parties will contribute to implementing community initiatives designed to empower individuals and improve the quality of life across various neighbourhoods in Dubai.

Directing investment

DEWA will support the Fund’s initiatives in areas such as educational and awareness programmes to promote comprehensive development and improve the quality of life. These initiatives will also direct investment towards important social and cultural issues. Additionally, the support will extend to recreational activities, which aim to enhance community well-being, happiness and strengthen connections among citizens in Dubai’s residential neighbourhoods.

Additional initiatives include community sports projects, which encourage investment in the sports sector and promote physical activity, as well as seasonal events that play a significant role in enhancing the community’s quality of life and fostering economic development.

Al Furjan Fund was founded in line with the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai’s Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs. It was launched by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council. The fund sponsored several community initiatives, including Summer Rain, Bain Al Ghaf Festival, a summer camp and tourist excursions for retired citizens in collaboration with Dubai’s Thukher Club, a Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs initiative.
