Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised 32 sports tournaments and events in 2023, with the participation of over 3,000 male and female employees from various divisions. DEWA also sponsored and hosted three sports tournaments in Dubai and participated in several local sports events. This is part of DEWA’s social responsibility and continuous efforts to achieve the wise leadership’s directives to ensure that sports become a part of Emirati culture while enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness in all fields.

“We are guided by the vision of the wise leadership that prioritises sports, and the National Sports Strategy 2031, which aims to increase the proportion of people practising diverse sports to 71 per cent of the population. We encourage employees and community members to adopt a sporting lifestyle and make it a daily practice to improve their health and happiness. Sports play a vital role in promoting harmony and fostering humanitarian and cultural cohesion among society. This is done in the framework of positive competitiveness and the sporting spirit that characterises the sports events held in Dubai,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“We are keen to provide a positive and healthy work environment that enhances the spirit of teamwork and strengthens relationships. This allows employees from various divisions and departments to get to know each other outside of working hours. This increases their focus and strengthens job loyalty,” said Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA and Chairman of DEWA’s Sports Committee.
