HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has inaugurated the second cycle of the Cleantech Innovators exhibition that DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre is organising as part of ‘UAE Innovates 2025’, the 10th edition of the country’s innovation month. Al Tayer was briefed on the latest solutions – contributing to efforts to shape a sustainable future – by key local and international companies. These include Huawei, Siemens Energy, Emirati company Eanan Manufacturing, LONGi Solar DMCC, JinkoSolar, Trina Solar, ABB Ltd, Sungrow, GE, Canadian Solar and Anhui Huasun Energy. The innovations focused on green hydrogen, sustainability, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, solar technology and energy storage solutions, as well as sectors that play a vital role in combating climate change.

Al Tayer further reviewed the innovations of the winners of the second cycle of the Sustainability and Innovation Centre’s CleanTech Hackathon. The Hackathon attracted 160 applications from 25 nationalities and 20 universities around the world. Al Tayer praised the winning innovative technologies that will help to enhance the efficiency and cost of clean energy sources, ensure the reliability and stability of renewable energy, and seamlessly integrate renewable energy into existing systems.

Al Tayer noted that the Sustainability and Innovation Centre has become a global platform to strengthen co-operation in energy sustainability and climate action, as well as promote investment and the exchange of knowledge, experiences and the latest sustainable technologies, driving net zero in Dubai and the UAE.

Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, emphasised that the intensive events organised by the centre encourage innovation in clean and renewable energy and help to accelerate the energy transition.

During its participation in ‘UAE Innovates 2025’, the Sustainability and Innovation Centre also organised over 30 panel discussions as part of the CleanTech Connect programme, with the participation of elite speakers.
