DEWA organises knowledge events during Reading Month 2025

To mark Reading Month in the UAE, observed every March under the theme "UAE Reads," Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising 11 knowledge events in both Arabic and English throughout the month. These events feature the participation of select DEWA employees, stakeholders, as well as local and international writers and speakers.

“We are eager to foster a culture of reading within our community and create a society enriched with knowledge and learning. Our aim is to encourage employees and stakeholders to make reading a daily habit. During the UAE’s ‘Year of Community’, DEWA’s activities for Reading Month focus on inspiring and empowering all members of society to contribute to collective progress,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Throughout March, DEWA is organising numerous events and competitions to encourage employees and DEWA Academy students to read. These include awareness lectures held in collaboration with local and international entities such as the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, Taylor & Francis, Lux Research, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and select DEWA employees. DEWA is also organising a virtual book exhibition in collaboration with leading distributors in the UAE. To further encourage reading, DEWA is also organising events for employees’ children enrolled in its childcare centres (nurseries) and a Holy Quran recitation challenge for DEWA Academy students. It will also organise the ‘Share an Hour’ initiative to exchange knowledge among employees in DEWA’s various divisions.

DEWA has six Knowledge Centres containing thousands of books, including digital and paper publications. DEWA’s goal is to encourage its employees to cultivate a passion for culture and reading, enhancing knowledge and fostering innovation within the company. In 2024, there were more than 250,228 downloads from the digital knowledge resources that DEWA provides.
