HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer meets high-level delegation from Eaton EMEA

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) continues to forge global partnerships and collaborate with industry leaders to advance Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for sustainability and innovation, as demonstrated by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, recent hosting of a high-level delegation from Eaton EMEA.

The delegation included Omar Zaire, incoming President at Eaton EMEA, Olivier Leonetti, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and Marie Kim Elkins, Senior Vice President for Taxes, with the meeting attended by Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA; and Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA.

Eaton, a global leader in power management with a strong presence in the UAE, discussed opportunities for collaboration with DEWA during the meeting.

Al Tayer underscored DEWA’s leadership in adopting advanced energy and water systems, its commitment to digital transformation and sustainability, as well as its projects and progress toward achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. He highlighted DEWA’s strategic initiatives such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world with a planned production capacity of 7,260 megawatts (MW) by 2030. The solar park also houses the Research and Development (R&D) Centre and the Sustainability and Innovation Centre, as well as the Green Hydrogen project, the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce hydrogen through electrolysis powered by solar energy. This is complemented by the Hatta Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant, a 250MW project that is part of DEWA's drive to diversify its renewable and clean sources in Dubai. The project, the first of its kind in the GCC, has a storage capacity of 1,500 megawatts-hours.

DEWA’s strategic efforts have positioned Dubai as a global leader in sustainability while Eaton’s expertise in power management technologies supports organisations in reducing energy consumption and emissions. This partnership underscores Dubai’s mission to create a sustainable, efficient and resilient energy ecosystem for generations to come.

The discussions explored potential partnerships in advancing innovative energy solutions, improving operational efficiency and integrating cutting-edge technologies into Dubai’s power and water infrastructure. Both parties emphasised their shared priorities, including accelerating the transition to sustainable energy, modernising smart grids, integrating renewable energy and developing next-generation energy storage systems.

The Eaton delegation commended DEWA’s accomplishments in renewable energy and smart infrastructure, highlighting the synergy between both organisations.
