Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised 92 training courses and awareness sessions on occupational health, safety and quality of life during the first half of 2025, with the participation of 2,066 employees from various divisions. A group of experts highlighted international best practices on risk prevention, emergency preparedness, stress and fatigue management, and ways to promote climate resilience while maintaining safe and healthy environments at home and the workplace.

“We support the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision, which aims to position the UAE as one of the top 10 countries globally in the ‘Human Development Index’, and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seeks to establish a world-class, efficient healthcare system by promoting healthy lifestyles. We are committed to providing a safe and positive work environment that enhances employee well-being and happiness. We have implemented a well-being management strategy in compliance with ISO 45003:2021, the international standard for managing psychosocial risks. These efforts resulted in DEWA receiving six distinguished awards from the British Safety Council in 2024, including the Shield of Honour award in well-being, making us one of only two organisations globally to receive the accolade in 2024, and the only organisation outside the UK,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, said: “We adopt an integrated management systems policy for health, safety and life quality management systems. We are keen to keep pace with the latest trends and technologies related to occupational safety and physical and mental health. DEWA is at the forefront of sustainable utilities, fully abiding by all local and international environmental and health and safety requirements and specifications.”
