For the 10th consecutive year, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully renewed three prestigious international certifications issued by the British Standards Institution (BSI). These are the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) ISO 22301 certification, originally obtained in 2016 when DEWA became the first utility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to achieve this milestone, the ISO 31000 Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) certification and the BS 11200 standard for Crisis Management.

These achievements highlight DEWA’s commitment to global best practice, ensuring resilience, agility and uninterrupted delivery of electricity and water while maintaining world-class standards in service reliability and sustainability. DEWA fulfilled 100% of the standards requirements, especially the vital activities related to power generation and water production.

“Guided by the vision of our wise leadership, we continue to set benchmarks for utilities worldwide by adopting proactive strategies, advanced technologies, and best-in-class governance frameworks. Renewing these internationally recognised certifications for business continuity, enterprise risk management and crisis management reinforces DEWA’s global leadership in resilience and operational excellence. These achievements ensure our ability to anticipate and manage risks effectively, safeguard the continuity of electricity and water services and support Dubai’s position as the world’s best city to live and work. Through innovation and collaboration with leading global entities, we remain committed to strengthening corporate agility and sustainability, ensuring we meet the growing demand for energy and water with unmatched reliability and efficiency,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Vladimir Cherny, BSI’s General Manager, Commercial, for the Middle East and Africa, said: “BSI is proud to be a trusted partner to DEWA, and we extend our warmest congratulations to the entire team for successfully achieving and maintaining all three standards. This accomplishment reflects DEWA’s unwavering commitment to business continuity, risk management and operational excellence across one of the region’s most complex and strategically significant government entities. Achieving these certifications is a clear testament to the strength of DEWA’s integrated management systems and the dedication of its employees, guided by visionary leadership. DEWA’s proactive approach not only reinforces its internal resilience but also delivers substantial benefits to its employees, customers and the wider society.”
