Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully obtained external verification of its 2025 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018, reinforcing its leadership in climate transparency and adherence to the highest international standards in environmental reporting. This milestone reflects DEWA’s proactive approach to strengthening accountability and reliability across its climate disclosures.

“Our projects and operations support the UAE’s climate action efforts through the development of sustainable energy and water infrastructure aligned with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. As the exclusive provider of electricity and water in Dubai, we play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable solutions to address climate change. We apply an integrated system to measure, manage and reduce emissions, delivering tangible results based on transparency and accuracy in line with global best practice. This was reflected in DEWA achieving the best performance globally among its peers in terms of absolute greenhouse gas emissions in 2025. Completing the external verification of 2025 greenhouse gas emissions reaffirms our commitment to enhancing an advanced operational ecosystem that balances efficiency, reliability and environmental responsibility, in line with DEWA’s vision to be a globally leading, sustainable and innovative corporation committed to achieving net zero by 2050,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“We continue to invest in innovation and advanced solutions based on the latest Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to reduce emissions across the entire value chain. Our comprehensive strategic approach to addressing climate change focuses on initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency and strengthen operational resilience and sustainability, in line with climate objectives at the local, federal and global levels,” Al Tayer added.

Since 2012, DEWA has maintained a comprehensive monitoring, reporting and verification framework for greenhouse gas emissions, establishing a leading benchmark for transparency and accuracy in the region. The latest external verification, conducted in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2018 and ISO 14064-3:2019 (Greenhouse gases – Part 3: Specification with guidance for the verification and validation of greenhouse gas statements), covered multiple categories of direct and indirect emissions for 2025, reflecting DEWA’s holistic approach to measuring and managing its carbon footprint across its operations and value chain.
