Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in the Emirati Women Forum 2026, organised by the Dubai Women Establishment, as strategic partner of the event. Emirati women: Leadership and impact in vital sectors

During a discussion panel titled ‘Emirati Women: Leadership and Impact in Vital Sectors’, Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Senior Legal Adviser and Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee, highlighted initiatives, activities and programmes that advance the leadership, economic, professional and social empowerment of Emirati women, inspiring them to pursue excellence and assume greater leadership responsibilities.

“Emirati Women’s Day, celebrated this year under the theme ‘We Emerge Stronger and Better’, is an annual national milestone that reflects the remarkable achievements of Emirati women and their positive role in driving prosperity. Through the Women’s Committee, we support DEWA’s efforts to strengthen the presence of Emirati women in positions of influence locally and globally. The committee plays an important role in advancing DEWA’s strategic objectives by providing a motivating work environment that empowers Emirati women, helps them keep pace with rapid developments and enables them to transform challenges into opportunities,” said Al Jokar.

DEWA has 1,925 female employees across its divisions and departments, including 844 women in engineering and technical roles. Women also have a strong presence in leadership positions, with 1,185 occupying supervisory roles. Emirati women account for 85% of DEWA’s total female workforce.

During a workshop titled ‘Women and Sustainability’, Maryam Abdulaziz Khansaheb, Manager of Corporate Sustainability and a member of DEWA’s Women’s Committee, said: “Thanks to DEWA’s leadership in sustainability, innovation and digital transformation, its motivating work environment that fosters continuous development, and top management’s strong belief in the vital role of Emirati women in supporting sustainable development, Emirati women at DEWA are emerging as decision-makers and influential partners in advancing organisational performance and government excellence.”

Reem Almansoori, Acting Manager of Network Design and a member of DEWA’s Women’s Committee, added: “The journey of Emirati women is progressing from empowerment to a more advanced stage focused on enhancing their impact and active participation in organisational development and decision-making, while contributing to the achievement of sustainability goals. Continued investment in female talent enables DEWA to leverage their expertise and perspectives to develop more efficient and resilient work models, while fostering innovation and organisational excellence.”

Interactive platform

Through its interactive platform, DEWA gave visitors the opportunity to explore the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park using virtual reality technology. The stand also featured a presentation highlighting DEWA’s key achievements in empowering its Emirati female employees and strengthening their position as inspiring role models of leadership and excellence. In addition, the stand included a cultural corner inspired by Emirati heritage.
