Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that 15,142 consultants and contractors benefited from its OWNEK initiative in the first half of 2026, with awareness sessions and tutorial videos helping to improve submission quality, increase first-time approval rates and accelerate project delivery. During the period, OWNEK facilitated 1,161 preliminary technical consultations prior to project submission, in addition to 17,343 online technical discussions during the project submission and approval stages.
“As part of our efforts to reinforce Dubai’s position as a global model for government efficiency and ease of doing business, we are committed to providing proactive and integrated services powered by the latest artificial intelligence technologies to facilitate the work of consultants and contractors and enhance the efficiency of development and infrastructure projects. The ‘OWNEK’ initiative embodies this approach by shifting from providing support after applications are submitted to establishing a proactive technical partnership that begins before submission. This enables our partners to better understand requirements, improve design quality, reduce comments and accelerate project completion. The results achieved during the first half of 2026 demonstrate the effectiveness of this model in enhancing the partner experience, improving operational efficiency, and delivering higher-quality outcomes, supporting Dubai’s sustainable development journey,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, said: “DEWA’s top management is committed to providing an integrated business environment that supports our consultant and contractor partners and facilitates the timely delivery of Dubai’s infrastructure and urban development projects. The OWNEK initiative is part of DEWA’s ongoing efforts to enhance customer and partner experience by providing proactive technical support and guidance to help improve the quality of submissions and secure approvals on the first submission, saving time and effort.”
Prashanth Mdses from Darwish Engineering Emirates Contracting said: “I watched the HV Inspection video. It was very clear and helpful, providing complete information on what should be prepared and maintained before an inspection. This guidance will help us avoid inspection returns with comments and improve the quality of our work. Thank you to DEWA for your continuous cooperation and support. We appreciate your efforts in helping us complete inspections and our work more efficiently.”
Anoop John David from MBM Gulf Electromechanical LLC said: “The LV Design Demonstration video is very detailed and provides a clear understanding of the categories, requirements and procedures. I recommend that all contractors watch these videos to gain a better understanding of the complete process. DEWA has done an excellent job in preparing these detailed and informative videos.”
Abdel Rahman Abdulla Shehata from Al Ebtida Contracting noted: “I watched the LV Inspection video. It is clear, easy to understand and provides useful information for contractors. It will help us complete LV installations correctly and pass inspections with fewer issues. Thank you DEWA for your continuous support and helpful guidance. These initiatives help us complete our projects more efficiently and save time and effort.”
The tutorial videos explain the key aspects assessed during DEWA’s substation and low-voltage inspections, helping consultants and contractors improve the quality of their submissions and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
