A high-level delegation led by His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), visited the Microsoft headquarters in Los Angeles, California, USA, to discuss the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in workforce productivity and smart infrastructure.
HE Al Tayer was accompanied by Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President -Transmission Power, Marwan bin Haider, Executive Vice President - Innovation and the Future, Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President- Business Development and Excellence, Loh Lim Huat, Chief Advisor - Generation, Ghanem Al Qassim, Senior Manager - Solar Energy, and Humaid Al Hammadi, Senior Manager - Special Projects at DEWA.
During the visit, HE Al Tayer met with Microsoft executives Rajmohan Rajagopalan, General Manager of M365 Copilot and Apps, and Ricardo Villalobos, Principal Director of Industry Software Engineering. Discussions centered on leveraging Microsoft AI solutions to create an empowered, efficient, and innovative workforce, as well as exploring AI-enabled smart building solutions that align with DEWA’s commitment to digital innovation and sustainable infrastructure.
At the beginning of this year, DEWA has provided its employees with the smart assistants Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Security Copilot, making it the first government entity in the UAE to adopt this advanced technology from Microsoft. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to utilise innovation and the latest disruptive technologies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. DEWA is among the first utilities in the world to adopt Microsoft’s Copilot.
The Microsoft team highlighted the capabilities of Microsoft 365 Copilot, an advanced AI tool designed to elevate workforce efficiency and productivity by automating and enhancing daily operations. The discussions also explored Microsoft’s smart building solutions, powered by its leading AI technology, which promise to optimize energy use and foster sustainable building environments. Both initiatives are aligned with DEWA’s vision to promote sustainability, innovation, and smart city development in Dubai.
HE Al Tayer emphasised DEWA’s dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to achieve its strategic goals of enhancing operational excellence, customer happiness, and environmental sustainability.

The delegation’s visit reinforces DEWA’s strategic partnership with Microsoft and underscores its dedication to continuous technological development and innovation as it works toward shaping a sustainable future for Dubai.
