As part of its commitment to support the UAE’s vision to become a global leader in innovation and technology, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated as a Platinum Sponsor of the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2024), which took place from 14 to 18 October 2024 in Abu Dhabi. DEWA participated with a delegation of 25 specialists from various fields including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and intelligent systems. This enhanced opportunities for networking and exchanging expertise with leading global organisations.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that sponsoring IROS 2024, which was held for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, aligns with DEWA’s commitment to support scientific research, innovation and the development of modern technologies. This aligns with the UAE’s strategic plans, including the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, which aims to develop a comprehensive AI system to serve vital sectors and position the UAE as a global hub for innovation and knowledge.

“Through our active participation in this prestigious international event, we presented DEWA’s leading experience in research and development, consolidating our efforts to adopt the best smart solutions and advanced technologies that contribute to enhancing operational efficiency and improving the services provided to our customers. Innovation is an integral part of our corporate culture, and we continue to harness smart technologies to improve sustainability and achieve the UAE's strategic goals. Our Albaheth Programme, launched to develop national talent and encourage them to engage in research, competitions and training programmes, is a clear indication of our commitment in this field. Through this programme, we aim to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to achieving our national objectives in the energy and water sectors,” added HE Al Tayer.

Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, said the conference brings together prominent experts, researchers and academics specialising in robotics and smart systems.

“Through our participation, we aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and benefit from the latest innovations and smart technologies to develop sustainable solutions that utilise robotics and intelligent systems to improve operational efficiency,” said Bin Salman.
