The Union’s journey, led by Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid – to build a nation dedicated to the well-being, prosperity and happiness of its citizens, residents and visitors – marked a historic turning point in the Arab region. Within a few years, the UAE has emerged as a global success story, achieving unprecedented milestones. Its transformative development has inspired nations across the region and beyond, proving that ambitious dreams can be realised through determination and sincere, dedicated efforts by its loyal sons and daughters.

The vision of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid exemplified a unique model of wise and forward-thinking leadership. At Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), we are proud to contribute to the UAE’s remarkable journey of sustainable development, initiated by Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid. To honour their legacy and in conjunction with the Zayed and Rashid campaign launched by Brand Dubai under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, DEWA has partnered with Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Dubai Government’s Media Office. We have installed the world's largest mosaic art installation on the slope of the Hatta Dam waterfall. This installation features a historic photograph of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid during the founding phase of the Union, symbolising the values of unity, innovation and creativity they championed. This mural not only embodies the values of the Union but also highlights the pivotal role of the Founding Fathers in establishing the UAE and laying the foundations for its comprehensive and sustainable development. Furthermore, the artwork enhances Hatta Dam’s position as a leading tourist destination and a platform for commemorating the UAE’s history and the vision of its Founding Fathers, which continues to inspire sustainable development.

The story of Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid is, at its core, the story of the UAE – a nation that defies the impossible, anticipates the future and creates it. As we celebrate our national holidays, we reaffirm our commitment to the legacy of the Founding Fathers and pledge to serve our generous country through sincere dedication and boundless contributions.
