DEWA is the ‘Sustainability Partner’ of the Summit
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is the ‘Sustainability Partner’ of the World Governments Summit 2025. On the first day of the summit, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), met HE Khalifa Al Marzouqi, Ambassador of the UAE to the United Republic of Tanzania. The meeting discussed the latest developments in Suqia’s projects that implement the grant from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide clean drinking water to around one million people in Tanzania in co-operation with the Emirates Red Crescent. So far, more than 400,000 people have benefitted from Suqia projects in Tanzania. The meeting was attended by Dr. Yousef Al Akraf and Walid bin Salman, members of the Board of Directors, and Mohammed Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Squia UAE.
On the first day of the summit, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), met with HE Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq. The two sides discussed Dubai’s successful experience in the oil and gas sectors, ways to enhance sustainability in energy projects, best practices adopted by Dubai to diversify the energy mix and strategies and pioneering projects in the energy sector, in addition to cooperation and investment opportunities in Kurdistan. The meeting was attended by a number of officials including HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Board Member of Dragon Oil and Ali Al Jarwan, CEO of Dragon Oil.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of DEWA also met Christian Klein, CEO of SAP. The two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation in different areas including artificial intelligence, innovation, digital transformation and cloud computing. SAP’s public cloud is hosted at the Green Data Centre of Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of DEWA. The Green Data Centre, the largest solar-powered data centre in the world, is a model for integrating innovation with sustainability to provide advanced digital infrastructure that meets growing business needs while reducing environmental impact. The meeting was attended by Marwan bin Haidar, Vice Chairman and Group CEO of Digital DEWA; Waleed bin Salman, Vice Chairman of the Energy Sector at Digital DEWA; Mohammed bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub; and Dr. Ahmed Al Ketbi, Chief Information Security Officer at Moro.
The meeting was also attended by Sergio Maccotta, Senior Vice President, Middle East and Africa (South) at SAP; and Marwan Zeineddine, Managing Director, SAP UAE.
On the second day of the summit, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, will deliver a keynote speech titled ‘Reshaping the Future of Energy: Excellence and Leadership Through Clean Energy and AI’ at 1:15 pm at the main plenary.
Al Tayer will highlight Dubai’s leadership in leveraging the disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly artificial intelligence, in the energy and water sectors, DEWA’s internal operations, sustainability and customer services. He will also discuss the latest developments at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, which DEWA is developing. Additionally, Al Tayer will outline DEWA’s key energy storage projects, designed to ensure the availability of clean energy around the clock.
