As part of its efforts to unity and camaraderie, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised its annual Ramadan gathering for employees in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents and a large number of employees. The event, held at Grand Hyatt Hotel Dubai, featured various activities, including an Islamic lecture presented by Sheikh Mohammed Al Muhairi, nasheeds (Islamic songs) performed by Alwasmy, as well as Islamic competitions and raffle draws with valuable prizes.
In his speech, Al Tayer congratulated DEWA employees on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan, praying to Allah Almighty to make it a month of goodness, mercy and blessings that brings prosperity to the UAE, its leadership, government and people. He emphasised that the annual Ramadan gathering embodies the values of solidarity, cohesion and brotherhood that unite the DEWA family, reinforcing the noble principles of Islam, as well as the deep-rooted traditions of Emirati society and the values instilled in its people by the Founding Fathers, may their souls rest in peace.
“The Holy Month urges us to be kind, giving, compassionate and tolerant, and it calls on us to perform good deeds and to approach our work with seriousness and sincerity. Organising this gathering in the ‘Year of Community’ in the UAE – which aims to foster intergenerational relationships, create inclusive spaces that promote co-operation, belonging and shared experiences, as well as preserve the nation’s cultural heritage – underscores DEWA’s positive role in humanitarian and social work. In this context, we launched 465 social initiatives between 2013 and 2024, through which DEWA employees recorded approximately 250,000 volunteer hours, helping to improve the lives of millions worldwide. The achievements of the past years are a testament to your sincerity, dedication, sense of responsibility and commitment to teamwork, all of which contribute to building a brighter and more sustainable future for us and for generations to come,” said Al Tayer.
“Success is measured not only by our professional achievements but also by the positive impact we have on those around us. As we strive for excellence in our work, we also seek to inspire, instil hope and work in the spirit of one team to serve our society and enhance the quality of life for its members. In his book Reflections on Happiness & Prosperity, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said: ‘We seek to make people happy, and making people happy will be our objective and mission until it becomes a permanent and deep-rooted reality’,” Al Tayer added.
“During these blessed days, we pray to Allah Almighty to protect our beloved country and our wise leadership, who have made the UAE a global model of generosity, tolerance, and humanitarian work. We ask the Almighty to continue blessing us with security, stability and prosperity, and to accept our fasting, prayers and good deeds. May this Holy Month bring abundant blessings, and may peace and stability prevail in all countries of the world,” he concluded.
At the end of the gathering, Al Tayer, honoured Sheikh Mohammed Al Muhairi and Alwasmy for their valuable contributions to the event. DEWA employees expressed their gratitude to the top management for organising the annual Ramadan gathering and similar events that foster a spirit of fraternity and compassion while promoting a positive work environment.
