Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating as a Strategic Partner in ‘Dubai AI Week’, an event held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. Organised by the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, the forum will take place from 21 to 25 April 2025.
DEWA is showcasing its key AI initiatives and projects, highlighting the significant progress in integrating these technologies into the generation, transmission and distribution of energy and water networks, thereby enhancing efficiency and productivity.
“Guided by the proactive vision of the wise leadership, we employ the latest disruptive technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to consolidate the leading global position of the UAE and Dubai in the investment of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This supports the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, which aims to transform the UAE into a global leader in this field by investing in human competencies and vital sectors. By integrating AI technologies into our operations and services, we seek to promote sustainable growth in the energy and water sectors and ensure we supply our services according to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, reliability and sustainability. Through our strategic road map launched earlier this year, we also aim to become the world's first AI-native utility,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
DEWA’s latest AI-based projects
DEWA proactively enhances the readiness of its digital services by employing the latest emerging technologies such as AI and computer-using agents. During its participation in Dubai AI Week, DEWA is showcasing key AI projects that include:
• AI in Distribution Power: Supports DEWA’s Distribution Power division by summarising annual reports, guiding smart grid operations and outage management.
• Material Insights Agent: This virtual expert in photovoltaic (PV) materials provides quick insights for researchers and engineers.
• Billing Services AI Specialist: Generates reports that can be used to track unpaid invoices or notices, boosting collection efficiency and optimising invoice management.
• BRD Generator: Utilises generative AI capabilities to create a Business Requirements Document (BRD), outlining the functional and non-functional objectives and requirements of any technological or operational project.
• Customer Happiness AI: This platform enables DEWA to collect, analyse and interpret customer feedback and ideas across all channels in a structured and visible manner to refine the overall customer experience.
• Khadamatech Portal for Staff: A smart agent that can understand, analyse and act on employee queries, with integrated SAP functionality for HR services.
• AI-powered HR Agent: Provides accurate information and guidance on various HR-related queries.
• Legislation Agent: Offers guidance on legislation applicable to DEWA activities and supports the general network protection department.
• LinkedIn Learning AI Agent for Employee Development: Enhances the learning experience by providing access to a vast library of video courses delivered by industry experts.
