The 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), set to run from 30 September to 2 October 2025, will highlight the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in improving service delivery and accelerating digital transformation across various sectors vital to a sustainable future.
The exhibition – organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy – will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Several local and international companies are expected to showcase cutting-edge AI solutions, applications and best practices aimed at unlocking new possibilities. The exhibition will promote innovations that enhance efficiency, tackle digital transformation challenges, anticipate customer needs, automate administrative tasks and harness data-driven decision-making, with the goal of driving economic growth and elevating quality of life.
WETEX will also host panel discussions focused on the empowerment of youths, citizens and employees with AI skills. These sessions are designed to equip participants with the ability to design AI-based solutions and services that contribute to a digital economy while bolstering their adaptability to future challenges. International experts will offer valuable insights on how best to leverage AI tools to enhance performance. They will also discuss data verification methods and privacy protection for individuals and institutions, aiming to strike a balance between governance and data-driven innovation.
“WETEX reinforces the UAE’s position as a global AI hub while enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness and leadership in shaping a dynamic digital economy. By attracting the latest technologies, start-ups and global AI talent, the exhibition contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to drive the growth of a smart and advanced digital economy based on knowledge, innovation and future technologies,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
“In line with the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, WETEX fosters collaboration and partnerships to deploy AI in vital sectors, transfer knowledge and localise modern technologies. It further enhances the trust of investors and entrepreneurs by highlighting the flexibility of the UAE’s advanced digital infrastructure, and the highly efficient technological environment supported by advanced networks, data centres and smart systems that facilitate the implementation of huge technological projects,” Al Tayer added.
Helmut von Struve, CEO of Siemens in the UAE and the Middle East, said the best technologies make lives easier, production more efficient and operations more sustainable.
“Technologies like artificial intelligence do exactly this, and when used in combination with existing digital technologies and infrastructures, AI can supercharge productivity and innovation, as well as accelerate sustainability transformation. Global challenges need a global approach to partnerships and standards. We’re proud to be playing our part, working hand-in-hand with governments, businesses and communities to co-create the technologies and solutions that will drive economic and sustainable progress,” said von Struve.
Marwan Zeineddine, Managing Director of SAP UAE, said AI was a key enabler of sustainable innovation.
“At SAP, we are committed to supporting the UAE’s vision by helping organisations transform data into meaningful action. Through solutions such as SAP Business AI, SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP Sustainability Control Tower, we enable businesses to enhance efficiency, minimise environmental impact and deliver more intelligent services. These efforts support the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031,” said Zeineddine.
