The Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) has broadened its scope to include sectors that contribute to a sustainable future and enhance quality of life, in line with its progressive journey that keeps pace with the latest technology. Amid rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), WETEX has emerged as a global platform for energy companies eager to boost their AI investments to support their reliance on renewable energy. Additionally, it serves as a global hub for AI-focused organisations, data centres and technology companies seeking solutions to meet increasing energy demands, reduce emissions and facilitate the transition to sustainable energy.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) convenes WETEX annually under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. WETEX is an ideal destination to learn about AI investment opportunities. The exhibition highlights the immense economic potential of AI across various sectors, including clean and renewable energy, oil, water and digitalisation. The previous edition hosted a number of companies specialising in AI.

“WETEX translates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to boldly and proactively embrace AI, positioning the UAE among the world’s swiftest adopters of AI. In line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to ensure 100% of the emirate’s energy production capacity comes from clean sources by 2050, WETEX shines the spotlight on companies aiming to confront global changes and accelerate the energy transition based on the AI revolution. It consolidates partnerships aimed at promoting digital transformation to design advanced business models that are key to building a sustainable knowledge economy, ensuring a more sustainable future for generations to come. Last year's edition of WETEX witnessed the participation of 2,800 exhibitors from 65 countries and attracted 50,598 visitors from around the world. The exhibition hosted 21 international pavilions from 14 countries,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.

WETEX promotes the use of technologies that support the development of renewable energy to meet the growing energy demands of data centres and reduce their emissions. Reports highlight the potential of AI to lower emissions. Reports highlight AI’s potential in reducing emissions. Despite this promising role, Microsoft’s carbon emissions rose by 30% between 2020 and 2023 due to indirect emissions from the construction of data centres.

Khalid Bin Hadi, Managing Director Subregion UAE, Siemens Energy, said: “We’re proud to once again support WETEX as a Principal Sponsor. Our longstanding partnership with DEWA and ongoing presence at this important platform reflect our strong commitment to advancing the energy transition in the UAE and beyond. By bringing forward cutting-edge technologies, we aim to help drive a more efficient and sustainable energy future.”

Noaman Amjad, Hitachi Energy, Executive Vice President Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Region Head Japan, South America, and South Korea Region Head Middle East & Africa, said: “Hitachi Energy is proud to serve as a Platinum Sponsor at WETEX 2025, an event that embodies our commitment to inspiring the next era of sustainable energy. Our participation reflects our dedication to powering the world’s energy system to be more sustainable, secure, resilient, and affordable - making electricity more accessible to all and empowering societies to thrive. We continue to pioneer cutting-edge technologies, including advanced AI solutions, that optimise energy management and enhance the integration of renewable energy sources. These innovations support key initiatives such as the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. Our long-standing collaboration with DEWA underscores our pivotal role in driving digital transformation and fostering a carbon-neutral future. At WETEX 2025, we are eager to connect with industry leaders and stakeholders to explore innovative solutions that will shape a more sustainable and resilient energy landscape for years to come.”

WETEX keeps pace with the growing trend of oil companies re-evaluating their business strategies and boosting investments in AI-driven renewable energy.
