Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has affirmed its full readiness to provide electricity and water services in line with the highest standards of reliability, efficiency and quality, supporting Dubai’s needs during various occasions and events. DEWA continues to intensify its efforts by deploying teams of engineers and technicians across the emirate to ensure uninterrupted and reliable services around the clock.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said: “We work in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to provide a state-of-the-art, integrated electricity and water infrastructure that meets growing demand and supports sustainable development in Dubai. The smart grid is a core pillar of DEWA’s strategy to develop advanced infrastructure for managing utilities and services through disruptive technologies and Fourth Industrial Revolution applications. We are committed to integrating our efforts with all government entities in Dubai to ensure that major celebrations and events are delivered in a manner befitting Dubai’s reputation for hosting world-class celebrations and major international events, while enhancing the emirate’s global competitiveness in service quality. In 2024, we achieved a new world record in electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) per year, with Dubai recording less than one minute (0.94 minutes) per customer annually, highlighting DEWA’s ability to restore power efficiently during faults or unplanned outages.”

“DEWA’s plan for the new year 2026 celebrations includes implementing proactive maintenance operations and comprehensive inspections of substations and networks, as well as using predictive analytics systems to monitor the performance of electricity and water networks. In addition, DEWA adopts the latest smart monitoring and analysis systems supported by artificial intelligence, ensuring network stability and a rapid response to any operational developments, while delivering a seamless experience for all,” added Al Tayer.

DEWA utilises an Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System (ASGR), the first of its kind in the MENA region, to enhance remote control, management and monitoring of its power network around the clock without any human intervention. The system relies on a smart, centralised and innovative platform that identifies faults in the power network, isolates them and automatically restores service. This enhances grid automation, improves fault detection and service restoration processes and supports DEWA’s efforts to maintain supplies in accordance with the highest standards of reliability, efficiency and performance.
