DEWA deploys Intelligence Data Modelling Software for faster operational response

Dubai, UAE, 7 January 2026: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reinforced its leadership in artificial intelligence and machine learning through the ‘Intelligence Data Modelling Software Related to the Operational Technology System (IDMS)’. This new innovation analyses data from supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems to support data-driven operational decision-making, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of critical water infrastructure management. The software has been patented in the UAE and is already deployed within DEWA’s Water and Civil Division.

“DEWA continues to invest in advanced digital solutions that enhance the reliability of critical infrastructure and raise operational readiness, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to consolidate Dubai’s position as a global model for innovation and sustainability. Implementing IDMS supports our shift towards utilising artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to analyse Big Data and proactively address operational challenges, resulting in higher efficiency, faster responses and long-term service sustainability. This achievement reflects DEWA’s commitment to strengthening digital and smart technologies across its operations, supporting the UAE’s direction in adopting innovation and AI, and enhancing the efficiency of key services,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

The software uses machine learning to analyse data generated by SCADA systems, including alarms and notifications. By processing large volumes of data and linking them to intelligent algorithms, it enables operational teams to identify, diagnose and address issues quickly and accurately. The system also sends SMS notifications to concerned personnel, ensuring rapid action and reduced response times during malfunctions or emergencies.

By shifting from traditional monitoring methods to intelligent, predictive models, the solution significantly enhances the efficiency of water network operations. This supports business continuity, improves asset safety and delivers notable savings in both time and operational costs.

Abdullah Obaidullah, Executive Vice President of Water and Civil at DEWA, said: “Implementing the IDMS marks a significant shift in the management and monitoring of water networks. It enables deeper insights into operational data, accelerates the processing of alarms and incidents, and enhances coordination among teams. This innovative solution improves operational efficiency and reduces downtime, supporting network reliability while keeping pace with the highest global standards in critical infrastructure management.”
