Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reaffirmed its ability to restore electricity with exceptional speed through the Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System, the first of its kind in the region. DEWA launched the system to enhance the efficiency of electricity network management and ensure the stability and continuity of power supply under all circumstances. The advanced system also enables DEWA to monitor and control the electricity network automatically and accurately, significantly accelerating fault detection and service restoration within record time while minimising human intervention. This approach aligns with DEWA’s vision to adopt the latest digital and smart solutions.

“At DEWA, we continue to deploy advanced smart technologies to enhance the reliability of the electricity network and improve the efficiency of services provided to customers. The Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System reflects our commitment to innovation and sustainability as it enables rapid response to faults, ensuring service continuity in line with the highest global standards. DEWA customers enjoy the lowest customer minutes lost worldwide, at just 0.94 minutes per year. This achievement reflects DEWA’s leadership in digital transformation and its continued support for Dubai’s objectives to build smart and sustainable infrastructure and enhance quality of life through reliable and rapid services that meet customers’ expectations,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

Al Tayer explained that the system provides a high level of automated control in managing the electricity grid while enhancing the readiness of electrical infrastructure, including in specific operational scenarios such as service reconnection after payment and disconnection due to non-payment. This is enabled by full automation and the flexibility of the smart systems adopted by DEWA.

As a result of these achievements, DEWA continued to record high levels of customer happiness in 2025, achieving a 98.9% score on the Dubai Government Instant Happiness Index, measured by the Digital Dubai Authority.
