As part of Pink October, the global campaign held each October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Women’s Committee at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised an awareness week at Al Shera’a, DEWA’s new headquarters, and several DEWA branches to enhance female employees’ understanding of breast cancer and the measures they can take to reduce risk factors.
“As part of our commitment to enhancing the quality of life of our female employees and raising awareness of physical and mental health, we continue to promote a culture of health and wellness and encourage female employees to undergo regular examinations for the early detection of breast cancer. We also emphasise the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle based on balanced nutrition and physical activity,” said Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of the DEWA Women’s Committee.
DEWA’s breast cancer awareness month activities included on-site medical examinations and free mammogram vouchers. Female employees shared inspiring stories of successful treatment and recovery, highlighting the importance of regular screening and self-examination in supporting early detection and improving treatment outcomes.
