HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has affirmed that DEWA places People of Determination and their families at the heart of its efforts to consolidate a culture of inclusion and empowerment, adding that they are true and essential partners in the journey of inclusion, empowerment and success. 1

This came during His Excellency’s periodic meeting with DEWA employees who are People of Determination and their families, as part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance direct engagement and identify their needs and suggestions.

HE Al Tayer stated that these efforts embody the wise vision and established humanitarian approach of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who launched the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination. He also highlighted the ‘My Community ... A City for Everyone’ initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, that aims to fully transform Dubai into a friendly city for people of determination.

“We work to achieve the directives and the objectives of the ‘Dubai Social Agenda 33’, which promotes equal opportunities for all segments of society. This includes safeguarding the right of People of Determination to access services, facilities and information and participate actively in development and prosperity. We are keen to employ the latest technologies and provide various forms of support and quality services according to the highest global standards, which enhances the inclusion and empowerment of People of Determination in the work environment and society,” HE Al Tayer said.

“This meeting comes within our plan for periodic communication with People of Determination and their families, listening to them and identifying their needs and suggestions. We believe that the family is a true and essential partner in the journey of inclusion, empowerment and success,” he added.

“At DEWA, we are keen to provide an inclusive and qualifying work environment for everyone by adapting our buildings and facilities, making appropriate arrangements and providing devices and assistive tools that make everyday life easier for People of Determination. We also provide flexible work options and tailored support to enable them to perform their roles effectively and achieve their ambitions. Through an integrated system of inclusive human resources policies, regulations and initiatives, we work to meet the needs of People of Determination and their families, and provide appropriate facilities and support for them, which enhances their empowerment, happiness and quality of life,” HE Al Tayer continued.

HE Al Tayer noted that DEWA continues to invest in training and development, career paths, future skills and artificial intelligence while creating opportunities for People of Determination to participate, innovate and excel alongside their colleagues. He affirmed that People of Determination and their families remain true partners in DEWA’s journey towards a more inclusive, empowered and happy society.

HE Al Tayer concluded by thanking the families of People of Determination for their trust and partnership, affirming that DEWA continues to consolidate an integrated approach to the inclusion and empowerment of People of Determination while supporting their active participation in the journey of development and efforts to build a more sustainable future.

DEWA has achieved several milestones in this area. It was recognised as an ‘Entity Friendly to People of Determination’ at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards in 2018 and 2024. It also received an ‘Autism-Friendly’ certification from the Dubai Autism Center in 2025 and earned the ‘Accessible for All’ Gold Certification from Dubai Municipality for all 10 facilities evaluated to date.
