Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honoured a number of its innovative employees in recognition of their innovative achievements and contributions. The recognition took place during DEWA’s celebration of World Intellectual Property Day, observed annually on 26 April. The initiative reflects DEWA’s commitment to encouraging creativity by fostering an environment that nurtures pioneering ideas and transforms them into value-added projects that drive innovation and empower national talent.

From 2017 until the end of Q1 2026, DEWA has been granted 76 intellectual property (IP) rights across multiple jurisdictions, underscoring its position as an innovative organisation that actively contributes to building a sustainable future driven by knowledge and advanced technologies, while supporting comprehensive and sustainable development.

To mark World Intellectual Property Day, DEWA organised an awareness session titled ‘Choose Original Innovations, Choose Wisely’, in addition to an Intellectual Property quiz and other activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of protecting IP rights, promoting a culture of responsible innovation and highlighting the role of IP in supporting a knowledge-based national economy.
