The Women’s Committee of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised a special event to mark International Women in Engineering Day 2026 at DEWA’s new headquarters, Al Shera’a, an iconic model of sustainable architecture. The celebration brought together more than 60 female employees from across various divisions, who participated in panel discussions, interactive sessions, competitions and a range of engaging activities.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, commended DEWA’s female engineers for their outstanding ability to transform challenges into inspiring success stories. He highlighted that DEWA’s sustained support has strengthened the role of women across all future-focused fields and sectors, enhancing their contributions to the organisation’s achievements and world-leading projects. Among these is Al Shera’a, the tallest, largest and smartest net-positive government building in the world. Al Tayer emphasised that Dubai’s exemplary model in empowering women reflects the emirate’s success in human development and its steady progress in achieving national objectives, further reinforcing its position as a global hub for opportunity, growth and sustainable development.
The event featured insights from Noora Al Hammadi, Deputy Manager of Water and Civil Engineering at DEWA, who shed light during an inspirational talk on the vital role played by DEWA’s female engineers in delivering Al Shera’a. The event also featured a range of cultural contests centred on the new headquarters and its record-setting achievements, alongside interactive competitions and brainstorming sessions titled ‘City Builders’. These initiatives were designed to enhance the engineering skills of female employees, foster team spirit and facilitate the exchange of ideas and practical experiences to advance the engineering work environment. Moreover, a select group of female engineers participated in the sixth edition of the ‘#Your day … as an Engineer’, an initiative launched by the Women’s Committee to showcase standout success stories and professional journeys.
