CleanTech Youth Programme boosts participants’ knowledge of sustainability and innovation

Participants in the sixth cycle of the CleanTech Youth Programme, organised by the Sustainability and Innovation Centre of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), have praised its contribution to developing their theoretical and practical knowledge of sustainability and clean and renewable energy. They highlighted the programme’s success in introducing them to the latest developments and innovative technologies driving the global energy transition.

Participants further commended the positive and engaging atmosphere that characterised the programme’s diverse activities, noting how it fostered teamwork and collective responsibility while strengthening their passion for science, engineering, innovation and sustainability.

They emphasised the significance of the Sustainability and Innovation Centre as a leading national and global platform that empowers youths, equips them with future-ready skills and inspires them to play an active role in advancing the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to provide 100% of the emirate’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050.

Commenting on the incentives that drove him to participate in the programme and the knowledge he gained during his participation, Saif Ali Al Balooshi said: “I gained a deeper understanding of solar energy systems, battery energy storage systems and smart energy solutions. I also developed my skills in sustainable thinking and teamwork, connecting theoretical aspects with practical application through workshops and field visits to Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the Sustainability and Innovation Centre and Al Shera’a Exhibition. This increased my passion for the clean energy sector.”

Reem Ali Al Shumaili said: “Before joining the programme, I viewed sustainability as limited to the energy sector. Today, I see it as an integral part of every aspect of our lives. Rashid Ahmed Al Mulla said: “My knowledge on the latest clean energy technologies has expanded, and I learnt how to evaluate sustainable solutions and link them to practical applications in the energy sector.
