DEWA to highlight climate action and sustainability efforts at inaugural Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will participate in the first edition of the Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition (DECE) 2026, organised by the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority under the patronage and in the presence of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy. The event will take place on 7 and 8 September 2026 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai under the theme, ‘Protecting Our Environment, Securing Our Future’.

DEWA will showcase its key climate action, sustainability and clean and renewable energy initiatives and projects. It will also take part in discussions that bring together decision-makers, specialists and experts to share insights and explore practical solutions to environmental and climate challenges.

“We work in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to consolidate Dubai’s position as a global model for sustainability, the green economy and climate action. Our participation in the Dubai Environment Conference and Exhibition 2026 underscores the importance of integrating efforts among government and private sector entities, as well as research and academic institutions, to develop practical and innovative solutions that enhance resource efficiency, accelerate the transition to clean energy and support Dubai’s efforts to build a sustainable, low-carbon economy,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.

“At DEWA, we continue to develop innovative projects and initiatives that contribute to diversifying the energy mix. This supports the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050 to provide 100% of Dubai’s energy production capacity from clean sources by 2050,” added Al Tayer.

DEWA’s stand at the event will highlight its major projects aimed at developing an integrated clean and renewable energy system, most notably the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park based on the independent power producer model. The solar park’s current production capacity has reached 3,860 megawatts (MW) and is expected to exceed 8,000 MW by 2030.

The conference will focus on six key themes: climate action, biodiversity, food security, natural resources,  circular economy and environmental artificial intelligence. Engineer Hamad Salem Al Shamsi, Senior Manager – Climate Change and Sustainability at DEWA, will participate in a panel discussion titled ‘Shifting Towards a Circular Economy: Going Beyond Recycling’. The session will explore ways to enhance resource management and expand the concept of the circular economy beyond recycling towards more comprehensive and sustainable models that improve resource efficiency, foster innovation and support sustainable economic growth.
