The Women’s Committee of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), in collaboration with Nations Coaching Institute (NCI), organised an awareness lecture to enhance female employees’ professional communication skills and emotional intelligence in the workplace. Presented by Dr Aysha Al Busmait, an expert in government communication, the session featured interactive training materials, practical exercises and hands-on activities focused on effective professional communication, teamwork and building positive workplace relationships across different grades.
“As ambassadors of DEWA’s achievements, female employees play a key role in promoting DEWA’s reputation and highlighting its corporate identity and values. We are proud of DEWA’s rich cultural diversity and are committed to fostering a positive and happy work environment built on respect, inclusivity and consideration of individual differences. We provide the necessary training platforms to support female employees’ professional and personal growth, empowering them with the knowledge and expertise needed to keep pace with diverse professional and family responsibilities, thereby enhancing their productivity and organisational efficiency,” said Fatima Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women’s Committee.
A total of 50 DEWA female employees explored best practices in effective communication, including responsive engagement, active listening and clear message delivery across formal and informal conversations, meetings, email correspondence, phone calls and social media platforms.
Participants highlighted the importance of such events in strengthening team spirit and promoting constructive communication based on trust, respect, cooperation, coordination and the highest standards of professionalism. They also praised the lecture’s interactive nature and practical applications, which helped them relate the skills they acquired to everyday workplace situations and apply them effectively in the workplace.
