What is Electricity Meter Testing

The DEWA Meter testing lab tests electricity meters and current transformers for accuracy and reporting. This services is for New Connections.

Online Procedure

Online Procedure:

Steps for submission of the request to completion of requested service:

1. Submit the request online

2. Deliver the Energy Meters or Current Transformers to DEWA as per the request (ref request number/Notification number).

3. DEWA sends the bill (sales order) for the above request to registered email.

4. Make the payment online through EasyPay (request number /Notification number) service

5. After successful payment DEWA will email the tax invoice to the customer or contractor.

6. DEWA will start the work as per the request.

7. After completion of the testing, DEWA sends the test results to the customer or contractor.

8. The customer or contractor collects the Energy Meters or Current Transformers from the test lab.

Step 1:

Login to your account through the DEWA online channels (website or smart app) as a Consumer/contractor.

Step 2:

Click on Builder - General Technical Services – Testing Services

Step 3:

Select ‘Electricity meter testing’ and click ‘Continue’

Select the material (Energy Meters/ Current Transformers) from the dropdown list, enter the Quantity of meters and click on Add button. Continue the above step if you have more than one type of materials.

Follow the other inputs and attachments as required. Send Test requests in a pdf format only.

Read and accept the Terms & Conditions

After submission of the request, customer/contractor will receive request reference number through Registered Email & SMS.

Step 4:

With reference to the above request/Notification number, customer has to deliver the Energy Meters/ Current Transformers to the test lab

Step 5:

Service Delivery:

The concerned Department will process the request after receiving the Energy Meters/ Current Transformers and inform the customer/Contractor accordingly. Future communications will be only through registered E-mail address. Customer/Contractor may contact Energy meter test Lab on email address: emtu.laboratory@dewa.gov.ae or on Telephone numbers 04 322 9897/04 322 9660. Alternatively, the customer/Contractor can contact DEWA Customer Care Centre (Telephone No. 04-6019999) or any Customer Happiness Centre to inquire about the status of their request.

*Note: The online testing services are applicable for new connections/check meters only.  For existing DEWA customers, the above service is not applicable. For any complaint related to Energy Meters for existing customers, kindly contact DEWA call centre.
