The Green Data Centre of Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro Hub), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (PJSC), has been awarded the Future Fit Seal. This prestigious recognition is granted to federal and local government entities that design and implement exceptional projects and models, strengthening the UAE's preparedness for the future.

The recognition highlights the project's innovative approach, impactful efforts, and measurable outcomes in sustainably enhancing the readiness of the data sector to adapt to global changes. By employing a cutting-edge model powered by green technology, the initiative boosts the competitiveness of the UAE’s digital and green economy. The center operates entirely on solar energy, with a green electricity capacity of 6.3 megawatts in the first phase, reducing the carbon footprint by more than 17,000 tons (17 million kilograms) of carbon emissions (CO2 equivalent).

The project offers 140 green data solutions and more than 100 advanced digital services, adhering to the highest standards of cybersecurity readiness for government and business sectors. The center has attracted over 175 government entities and leading global advanced technology companies that benefit from its green data services, including sustainable cloud computing. Additionally, it features more than 1,000 AI application models of smart city services, and Internet of Things, which will play a pivotal role in serving governments, communities, and individuals in the coming phase. With 200 applications available around the clock, the project significantly enhances digital readiness for the future.

Green Data: Fueling a Sustainable Future

Her Excellency Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future emphasized the critical role of green data in shaping the future, stating: “Green data is the sustainable fuel of tomorrow, driving transformative technological advancements that will define the digital development of governments globally in the coming era.”

Her Excellency Al Roumi highlighted that the Green Data Center by Moro embodies the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the strategic directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The center reflects the UAE’s readiness for the green technology revolution by developing sustainable and forward-thinking government models that equip governments and businesses for the challenges of the future.

This initiative aligns with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative, which aims to create a sustainable future for the benefit of current and future generations of the UAE.

His Excellency Al Tayer added: “The Green Data Center serves as a pioneering model for adopting advanced digital solutions powered entirely by solar energy, contributing to sustainable digital transformation and reducing the carbon footprint. With its leadership, the center has become one of the main pillars in realizing Dubai’s Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which aim to achieve 100% of the Emirate’s energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050. Through innovative and sustainable technological solutions, it supports Dubai’s vision for a greener and more sustainable future.”

His Excellency Al Tayer emphasized: “The establishment of the Green Data Center within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park—the largest single-site solar park in the world—reflects our commitment to strengthening Dubai’s digital infrastructure and providing comprehensive solutions in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and sustainable cloud computing. The center has gained global recognition, earning a Guinness World Record as the world’s largest  green solar-powered data center since the inauguration of its first phase, showcasing Dubai’s leadership in this critical field.”

His Excellency Al Tayer continued: “We firmly believe that these achievements are part of a long-term journey to ensure a sustainable future that meets the aspirations of generations to come while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for digital transformation and sustainability.”

Sustainable Digital Readiness

Moro Hub’s Green Data Center plays a pivotal role in fostering a sustainable economy by adhering to eco-friendly standards in its operations, leveraging advanced green technologies, and aligning with global sustainability trends. The center adopts an innovative model to support sustainable digital transformation, operating on a climate-neutral approach.  Operating entirely on solar energy, the center has a green electricity capacity of 6.3 megawatts in its first phase, significantly reducing its carbon footprint by cutting over 10,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually, with a cumulative reduction of 17,000 tons of carbon emissions to date.

The first phase of this project constitutes the largest solar-powered data center in the world covering 16,000 square meters. The project aims to expand over ten phases, ultimately spanning a total area of 100,000 square meters. Upon completion, it will house 2,500 generation units with a total capacity of 100 megawatts, setting new standards for competitive and sustainable digital infrastructure.

Digital Competitiveness of the Future

The project delivers 140 green data solutions and over 100 advanced digital services, including the Internet of Things, blockchain platforms, cloud computing, data lakes, cybersecurity services and products, and advanced software. These offerings adhere to the highest cybersecurity standards, catering to government and business sectors in a competitive manner.

The Green Data Center has attracted more than 175 entities, including prominent government organizations such as Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), Dubai Future Foundation, Digital Dubai Authority, and Dubai Government Human Resources Department, alongside leading global technology companies like Dell Technologies and SAP, among others. These entities benefit from green data services, including sustainable cloud computing and digital solutions and over 1,000 use cases of AI applications in fields of smart cities and Internet of Things. These technologies will be at the core of government, community, and individual services in the coming phase, supported by 200 round-the-clock applications that enhance sustainable digital readiness for the future.

Future Skills

In collaboration with more than 120 leading global companies, like Microsoft, Cisco, VMware and others, the Green Data Center has developed more than 25 future skills for over 26% of its specialized digital talents. These skills focus on green data applications and sustainable technologies, including machine learning, cloud computing, big data, quantum computing, cybersecurity, business data analytics, Internet of Things, and digital twinning for smart cities, among other essential future-focused competencies.

The Future Fit Seal

The Future Fit Seal is awarded to projects undertaken by local and federal government entities by the Government Development and the Future Office. It is based on six key criteria: the project must be human-centric, leveraging emerging trends and data to create a positive impact on society. It should demonstrate the ability to add tangible value to the UAE’s national economy and community while positively influencing people’s lives. The project must also adhere to sustainable practices that contribute to shaping the future. Furthermore, it should be proactive and innovative in a way that enhances future readiness, demonstrating resilience and adaptability to future changes. It must also be clear, well-defined, ambitious, and produce practical, measurable outcomes. Finally, it should contribute to digital readiness by adopting and advancing cutting-edge future technologies.
